Frequently Asked Questions

  • Anodizing offers a range of finishes, including matte, glossy, and satin. The end result is decided by how the product is prepped prior to being anodized. We offer bead blasting, polishing, and acid etching to create different finishes for your parts.

  • Steel cannot be anodized like aluminum because the anodizing process requires a specific electrochemical reaction that doesn’t occur with steel. Instead, steel is typically protected with other coatings, like galvanizing, powder coating, or plating.

  • We have no minimum order quantity! However, for each order, there is a minimum total cost of $60 for Type II anodizing and $90 for Type III hard anodizing.

  • Yes, we can remove anodized finishes at our shop. For minor surface issues, a light polish may be sufficient, but for significant damage or if the anodizing needs to be entirely redone, we can strip and re-anodize the part to restore it.

  • Yes, anodizing can be applied to complex shapes and intricate designs. The anodic layer forms uniformly on the metal, reaching into small crevices and corners.

  • While it does use chemicals, anodizing is a relatively environmentally friendly process because it is non-toxic and produces minimal waste. Unlike other finishing processes, anodizing does not create hazardous byproducts and is safe for the environment.
